Education in a Hospital Setting: Child Life Specialists

Children in a hospital still need to stay on track with regular education and schoolwork. But, there is other education and learning that takes place there as well. This is a research essay I wrote detailing the role of a child life specialist and how it is its own form of pedagogy. Children are educated about their illnesses and procedures by child life specialists. They are also taught valuable coping skills, guided to meet developmental milestones, and given the tools and resources needed to continue to grow, thrive, and succeed despite the challenges they face.
